Your course progress

Set up your course and its targets once, then see how far you've come, the pace you need and your next milestone.

Courses holds your course details and the targets it sets you. Everything else in ForCounsellors measures your progress against these targets.

Your course details

  1. In the menu, open Courses.
  2. Choose Edit course details.
  3. Fill in your college or university, the course name, the start and end dates, your theoretical orientation and your tutor’s name and email.

Use your portfolio hand-in date as the end date: your weekly pace is worked out from it. We never email your tutor unless you ask us to.

What your course asks for

Under What your course asks for you’ll see two kinds of target.

  • Hours to reach: for example 100 clinical hours. Each shows how many you’ve logged, the pace you need each week and your next milestone, such as “50-hour interim report, 12 hours to go”.
  • Rules to keep to: for example a supervision ratio of 1:8, at least 1.5 hours of supervision a month, or a weekly client load.

To start you off, we set a supervision ratio of 1:8, at least 1.5 hours of supervision a month and 4 client hours a week. Change them with Edit if your course asks for something different.

To add a target your course sets, choose Add target and pick the type: clinical hours, supervision ratio, supervision minimum, personal therapy hours, work-based learning hours, weekly client load, or a custom target with its own name.

Milestones

Clinical hours have two milestones: an interim report at 50 hours and a final report at 100. We give you a heads-up as you get close. When you reach one, your dashboard shows a Request report button so you can ask your supervisor to write it.
